Over the past decade, the Modi government has introduced several policies aimed at boosting the Indian manufacturing sector. With a strong focus on enhancing the quality and competitiveness of locally produced goods, these initiatives have propelled ‘Brand India’ onto the global stage, reinforcing its reputation for excellence
It is worth noting that the automotive sector currently contributes 7.1% to India’s GDP and employs around 37 million people, making it a major driver of economic growth. Projections indicate that the industry could grow from $74 billion to between $260 billion and $300 billion by 2026. The Automotive Mission Plan 2016–2026, a crucial part of the Make in India initiative, aims to enhance the industry’s size and technological capabilities, positioning it as a core component of the nation’s economic future. This plan is expected to increase the sector’s contribution to GDP to 12% and generate 65 million jobs.
