Fire Brigade Officer Flushes ₹60,000 Bribe Money In Toilet, Recovered from Drain in Mumbai

                         

 

The Mumbai Unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught a fire brigade officer for allegedly demanding a bribe from a person in order to give permission

An anti-corruption bureau liaison officer filed a complaint against fire brigade officer Prahlad Shitole over a bribe demand for PNG connection and a no-objection certificate in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

The Mumbai Unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught a fire brigade officer for allegedly demanding a bribe from a person in order to give required permissions to a hotel for which the complainant was liasoning.

However, after accepting the bribe money, the fire brigade officer got suspicious, after which he went home and flushed the bribe money (Rs 60000) in the toilet. The ACB team managed to recover Rs 57,000 from the drainage chamber of the building.

According to the anti-corruption bureau, the complainant is working as a liaison officer in a private company

Bribe Money in Toilet

A hotel owner in Borivali West had applied for approval work of PNG connection and no-objection certificate of his hotel to the complainant. The complainant had applied online for the approval on the Brihanmumbai Fire Brigade portal

After that, the complainant met public servant Prahlad Shitole, Senior Centre Officer serving at the Fire Brigade department, at his Dahisar office near Mumbai.

The anti-corruption bureau team recovered the bribe money from the drainage chamber of the building, which is around Rs 57,000. The amount of bribe was recovered and seized. Prahlad Shitole was later produced before the court and was remanded to custody for further investigation
